The holiday season has begun and Christmas decorations are everywhere. This is also a good time for you to strengthen your brand and public perception.
As such, we have assembled five different exciting Christmas campaigns and advertising options for you to check out.
#1 In 2013, the Canadian airline, Westjet, launched a "surprising" Christmas campaign. An interactive installation with Santa Claus asked what hundreds of passengers wanted for Christmas. The surprise came when the passengers landed at their destination and were greeted with packages containing what they asked for.
#2 In 2014, Virgin Atlantic had the goal of creating a magical and surprising moment for its passengers while they were still on board. 4 days before Christmas, the VS11 flight from London Heathrow to Boston was carrying 243 passengers. The festivities already started at check-in, when everyone was given a Windows tablet which they could use with tracking from Santa Claus. Everyone was happy and content, but nobody expected the great surprise that was to follow.
#3 In 2014, the British department store, John Lewis, made a pleasant story about " Monty the Penguin." The video shows a small boy and how he wishes for a partner for his best imaginary, penguin friend. What was notable in the video was that John Lewis decided to not make their brand the focus of the video, only showing it at the very end. You can't underestimate the effect of the video as it received almost 26 million views at the time of writing, not to mention all of the shares and mentions of Monty the Penguin on other websites and blogs, and it very effectively helped spread the name of their brand.
#4 Coca-Cola swoons millions of people with their Christmas ads in winter wonderlands. In 2014, Coca-Cola used the motto #MakeSomeoneHappy and had a video with short scenes showing how people can make others happy others with small surprises. The video shows many different scopes of people in order to make it relatable to everyone.
#5 "We asked people if they thought it was better to give or receive". JCPenney had a video that shows an emotional story about people "giving" and "receiving" last year. It is truly powerful how happy some people get by giving and receiving gifts.
That was the top 5 Christmas campaigns from 2013 and 2014.
We hope that there was something that you might be able to use as inspiration for your own Christmas campaign!
